Fuck that whole "Other" bullshit, really. He'll decide when and if he wants to be with another person in that way, and the universe can just kiss his ass. Vanitas is absolutely done with everyone else trying to decide everything for him - his life is his own.
But, then, these are the thought of someone leaning against a wall of an alleyway, fully aware that they might not have much time left. He's not even able to stand back up, at this point.
One hand presses firmly against the stab wound on his stomach, his brow knit pretty firmly as he tries to focus on slowing his breathing. Shit... This time's looking to be the last, isn't it? He won't even get a chance to pay those fuckers back. Guess they... won... ]

It's really hard to keep up the faith when it keeps getting broken.
Today was no different. Roxas was told by his best friends he looked grumpy. He snapped, felt bad, and walked off. Of course he was grumpy as the only unpaired person in his friend group! Walking around town at least gave him some time to think in peace...
Till a strange nagging gets him to look into an alley. Usually one to help out anyone who looks like they might need it, Roxas hesitates this time. He ignores and pushes down whatever it is that was holding him back and rushes over. Later. Whatever was trying to scream at him could be figured out later.]
H-Hey! [He kneels down, a frown and knitted brow showing his worry for this stranger.] Do you need an ambulance?
no subject
... I'll be fine.
[ Sorry, Roxas.
He's Just Like This.
But he's very clearly not fine. He's pale with clammy skin, and- shit, his eyes are closing, head leaning to the side a bit as they do... ]

Abracadabra now it's more soulmate-y
Maria could be nothing if not persistent. She would not allow a stubborn old king's distaste for "some frozen hinterland kingdom" sway her. She also knew that, were this to come to fruition, it could help cement the tenuous peace that kept the realm secure.
Unfortunately, approaching him again had, once again, invoked his ire, and every single time it seemed to get worse. It was literally only because she was a guest of the kingdom that she did not draw steel against the king. Only this time... she was beginning to think she may have invoked Zelda's ire, as well.
So, late after even the servants had gone to bed and only the skeleton night watch remained, Maria snuck toward the princess' chambers, slipping in through an old servant's passage she had long known about.] Princess. [You know, just in case the princess has decided she wants to draw a knife or something on her. She learned a long time ago not to surprise Zelda too hard, or one could end up on the wrong end of something pointy.]
no subject
Hearing someone say princess behind her did make her jump rather badly. Her mind so preoccupied that as she tried to draw her blade, her hand slammed against her desk, rattling the contents and making the princess swear softly. Immediately she covers her mouth as a blush appears on her cheeks.
Such undignified words... Seeing as no one has attacked her, she... is going to assume that this was a visitor, not an assassin.]
I am awake.
no subject
She's not really expecting to have surprised Zelda quite so badly, and she steps forward, cautious, but not trying to mask her steps too much so the princess knows where she is at any time.] It's me, Zelda... are you alright? That was quite the smack.
[Just gonna... get right up next to her; she won't grab Zelda's hand to look at it, but she does try to spy it from a comfortable distance, before offering her own hand in case the princess wants to proffer it. ] Have you been here all night? I didn't see you anywhere else.

Clearly the Best Fairy Tale AU Ever.
The forest for some reason seemed a little quiet and dreary compared to Ruby's normal adventures through them. At first she didn't let it bother her until she caught sight of a hint of white in the brush. Her curiosity got the better of her and she delved in a little deeper to investigate. It was there she caught sight of what looked like a casket with a young maiden in white laying within.]
no subject
Strange... the apple was a deep red, but not a single piece was eaten from it. Was it supposed to be this way or did this maiden just decide to take a random nap in the woods with her snack for when she awakens...]
no subject
When there weren't any signs of that working Ruby moved onto the next logical step. She gave the Maiden's shoulder a shake and proceeded to poke at her cheeks.]
Hey! You probably should find a better place for a nap. What if it rains?

[It's now Thursday morning, and Finn is staring at coffee maker in the kitchen as it drips a fresh pot. With actual ground beans this time. Double-strength, if he's figured it out right.]

Canon AU | Soul Mate AU
He'd planned to be very restrained and circumspect in the face of death, but Sora's last words had moved him out of his predetermined self-possession, and, careless of all the surroundings, Xemnas dropped all manner of pretence before the erasure of his existence.)
(Over the months following his death, Destiny Islands had been a peaceful place to start over again; young children stood like sentinels on the shore. A fringe of white foam spread over the cold, firm beach, wetting their shoes. Not long before it had been a still night sky, but here at sunrise, the air vibrated with the relentless pounding of the ocean. A dull mist spread onshore, partially obliterating their view. The salty wind blew Xemnas ashore on the Destiny Islands, buddled up in the Organization XIII's sodden, trademark outfit.
A dissident wave turned him over, face-up, eyes screwed shut. Not for long, as they opened on their own.)
(His hand, like some shy sentient thing, first strayed from the waves, fell hesitant into the sand, then leapt forward from its grains, with his arm extended towards the sun.)
no subject
The island had become important in that regard. It had become the last link to Sora. Someone Roxas wished he could talk to. They'd find him eventually. For now? Roxas would walk along the shores as he thought about nothing in particular. The weather wasn't too terrible at least.
Looking ahead, Roxas had noticed something on the beach that hadn't been there the last time he'd come. He couldn't tell what it was from this distance. There was some hesitancy as he approached. His senses didn't really tell him if it was a fight to worry about, so he figured being more cautious would be better.
The sudden movement made the small blond yelp and stumble back. He lost his footing and plopped down on the sand rather ungracefully. Shaking his head at the stupid move he made, blue eyes snapped back to where apparently a figure was. Enemy or...?]
... [Should he say something?] Hello?
no subject
Upon awakening a small sound broke, so faint, so far, he could not tell from whence it came nor what its cause might be. A few moments later the voice of a boy—very diminished and yet unmistakable—came pulsing down the beach. The familiarity of it set the figure in the black coat astir, coaxing the deepest rumble from his throat.)
. . .
(Painful memories were like books with chapters, deep and horrible; all he could do was dissociate from that surge of emotions -- leave them on the shelf to gather dust. To no avail, or so it seemed as it took all but another heart nearby -- a keepsake from a past long dead and buried -- to burst his dam of stoicism.
His frowning brow smoothed out, his eyes blinked open, his lips parted, and at length, rapt with longing, he fixed his golden eyes on a blurred, yellow-haired visage, becoming each moment smaller, more defined. A sense of longing swept over him -- became mirrored in his face. He had at this moment the gaze which came to the eyes of the young when a yearning for closeness, connection and care was strong.)
-- Roxas?
(Rolling onto the side, Xemnas hoisted himself onto an elbow then stared up at the teenager. His new heart sprang shut -- caught between opposing needs: the need for retribution and the need for help.)

Just some cuddles.
Except the movie turned out to be a bit slower than what could normally keep Ruby's attention through the whole thing and she felt herself getting a bit antsy. To help quell that feeling she just really casually and smoothly and certainly not in an overacted sense went to reach her arm around Weiss' shoulder with a yawn.
Very smooth, Ruby. Very smooth.]

The arm around her shoulder made her blink and lose focus of the movie as she glanced at Ruby.]

A Snowflake's Chance In Hell
A few well placed explosives was all it took to separate her from everyone else, the caved in walls cutting her off from the rest of her team. From there, it was an exercise in patience for Adam, as he let the poor little spoiled brat wander around in the darkened mine shaft, until she stumbled upon an area he wanted her to find. It was a large, cavernous area, one that was lit up by the energy of the highly volatile raw dust lining its walls.]
What's wrong, Princess? [His voice seemed to come from everywhere, echoing throughout the chamber as he mocked her, though he remained out of sight.] You look a little lost.

She has her Scroll for a small source of light at least even if she'd rather it had service at the time. The others would be mad she walked away from her initial position, but Weiss didn't want to sit still like a damsel in distress.
And now she regrets that choice as a chill goes up her spine, freezing her in place as her eyes glance around.] Oh yeah? Well, I'm not!
[She very much is.]

Queen Anna often regaled them with stories about the former queen. How Queen Elsa became the fifth spirit that was needed to bridge the spirits together with the humans. It was a fascinating tale and it was one that the children often grew up with. Stories of people who can use magic. Even the trolls didn’t possess something that unique, often using their elemental crystals to help them use what was needed.
But magic can often work in mysterious ways.
A bridge can eventually become broken in between. Worn over the years that will eventually grow brittle with age.
Sometimes, a new bridge needed to be built.
It doesn’t need to take a pair of siblings to mend it. Sometimes, all it needed was a pair of close friends who could be as close as brothers.
So when Queen Anna became sick in bed, the spirits began to mourn. And they began to find someone who can help mend the bridge before its become completely broken. Like a prince and his friend.
Which starts with a snowball being tossed in Roxas’ face as the two boys enjoy themselves in the winter snow.]
no subject
Roxas was just slightly jealous of someone being able to use magic. It would be something fun to know and do. Be able to maybe save people, or just have fun playing around. As he got older, the jealousy faded, and he was just happy enough to be himself. Even if magic was still fascinating.
With Queen Anna sick, the village wasn't the same. People were gloomy and sending prayers to whichever deities they worshiped. Roxas was about to do the same when he gets a snowball in the face. He really needs to stop getting into deep thoughts while playing with Ventus.]

Angst - 20 - Vanitas
Living on the streets wasn't as rough as he thought it would be. It wasn't till he turned eighteen the previous summer that it got harder. Children were always taken into shelters first when the weather turned bad. It wasn't so when they became adults. At least it had been a mild summer, and so far, a rather mild winter. The snow that did fall was easily avoided under awnings like the one he finds himself under at the moment. The store it led to was closed for the night, the few lights still long highlighting him from behind as blue eyes scanned the few passerby's. Not really paying attention to anything with his gaze, his mind was on where a good place to sleep for the night would be.
Begging for a place to sleep... was tempting. The shelters were full up with the weather turning rough, but asking a stranger for even just a garage to sleep in would be hard. No one looked particularly friendly to someone whose clothes really needed some mending. This had to be one of the most unfriendly cities he's ever been to...]
no subject
The old man was well off. Really well off. Some of that wealth did extend to Vanitas now that he was an adult but outside of decent clothes and such, he didn't really care about it. There was nothing he really wanted or desired. Nothing he had to really work for.
He was bored.
Seeing homeless on the streets always sent an odd shiver down his spine. Of a past life or a life he could of still of had should the old man not crossed his path. Stupid thoughts. He didnt have to eat out of the garbage like they did. If they were down on their luck, well, that was their problem. His luck was just better than theirs.
Scowling under his breath, he pulled his jacket more over his shoulders as he walked along the side walk. A deep red scarf contrasted the black jacket and his golden eyes. The old man was right, this town really was turning trashy.]
