[ So, shockingly, how they meet is this: Rhys falls from a hole that had opened up in the sky and he falls hard. Hard enough to knock him out, if he weren't so resilient. He does hit his head, though, and every part of him is screaming in pain. He doesn't notice where he's at, doesn't notice the huge cathedral somewhere in the distance, doesn't notice the fact that there are monsters attacking people. ]

Ohhhhh, god. I think I'm dying.

[Lightning notices that something that wasn't supposes to fall from the sky has.

People usually don't do that unless she's used a Jump style attack. This guy should be happy that any monsters that get near him are easily slain. He'll just have a pink haired lady glaring at him.]

Get up or you will be dead!

[ He has literally no idea what's going on. Oh, god. Is that a bullymong? Nah, it's close, but it's suddenly-- ]

What the--

[ ... Somehow, he manages to get up and pull a... stick? out of his pocket. He presses a button, making sure the thing's pointed at the other thing, and it extends. It also sends the behemoth flying.

Obviously, that pisses off the behemoth's fellows. So, in true Rhys fashion, he runs. Up to a structure in the middle of the square.

Nice. ]

[.... okay whatever that weapon was, Light wants one.

Why is it in the hands of that idiot? She shakes her head and gets ready to attack the other behemoths, but they seem to be drawn to following that ridiculous guy.]

Stop running!

[Let's see if a few Blizzaga spells will stop the things from attacking the man and turn their attention to her.]

[ Things that are happening: Rhys screaming his head off. This is terrible. Ten times worse than Pandora, because at least there he could find a gun when he killed a thing. Luckily, the Blizzaga spells manage to utterly wreck the behemoths--

Ah, he's falling again. Rhys groans and gives up on moving for a while. ]

Please... just.... let me die.... please... Oh, god. It hurts. Everything hurts.

[ Historically, Mira has not had much luck with knights. Maybe it's because most of her knights end up dead or otherwise grievously injured, or maybe it's because she's taken to closing herself off quite a bit from the male knights--that is to say, all of them. She's not comfortable around men, truly, and so her father's decided to take a different approach. Female knights are not as common, not even slightly, but somehow he'd found one.

... She's nervous, though, and she isn't sure what to expect from this new knight. Mira stands at attention, her head tipped down slightly. When it's time for her to introduce herself, though, she lifts her head for a moment and dips down in a curtsy. ]

Hello.

[ That's all she says, for now. ]

[Rare is the word that her father should have been looking for. Lightning wasn't easy to track down since she's moved from kingdom to kingdom. If she felt cheated or abused, she moved on to the next place. This reputation preceded her, but still, someone always wanted her.

Must be for her impressive battle prowess.

It was still a first to be requested to join a court to protect a princess. One that looks rather on the demure side. Lightning inclines her head.]

Your Highness.

[She's not one to follow decorum.]

[ The first thing that she really notices is that her new knight is... beautiful. Mira feels color and heat flood her cheeks, immediately followed by shame. She has yet to be engaged, but attraction to another woman... it's just not done. She's heard stories of brothels where women lay with other women, where men lay with other men, but she is not a commoner. She cannot afford such a thing.

But she does look at Lightning, for a few seconds. Then she looks away once more. ]

... Would you like me to accompany you around the grounds?

[Attraction is not something Light will readily admit even to herself. The princess had this air about her, though, that just drew in the knights interest. It was strange to even try and think of another woman as potentially attractive.

She averts her eyes before nodding.]

That might be the best way to go.

I still don't know why they banned me from helping with Jane-chan's pie project. The last thing I baked wasn't that burned, and collapsing like that is normal, right?

Pies aren't supposed to collapse, and neither is half the stuff you bake. Don't you know how to read a recipe?

[ She's not mad, not by any stretch. It's just... Serah loves hearing Lightning tell her, honestly. Maybe it's a little silly, but her sister found love. That's a pretty big deal. And hell, she's not going to pass up a chance to hear Lightning talk about Xander. ]

[This again. Serah, why do you keep asking questions like this?]

The Benefactors sent it to my room. Yurika found it, and she's the one who gave it to Xander. [There's a slight blush on Lightning's cheeks.] I'm surprised he wanted it in the first place. Thought he'd be too depressed to want anything to do with it.

[ The more Serah hears about Xander, the more she's reminded of Snow. ]

It must have reminded him of you, Light. [ Sweet... and sad. Yikes. ] Still, I know it's in good hands, if it's with someone you fell in love with.

[Don't ever tell Xander he's like Snow in any way. He might take offense.]

Or he felt obligated to keep it. [Light will deny being a romantic in any way.] I know it is. I'm surprised you didn't ask for it back... and I tried not to.

[When one forms a bond with a stray kitten, it's pretty likely that they'll bring it home eventually, right? This is like that, but the other way around. Lightning is the cat in this equation, a strong young woman with feline features and a distinctive clothing style. It's Natsuru that's the stray without a home or family, and she's as human as they come. Perhaps if she had argued or showed anything but a desire to spend more time together, Lightning would have let her go - she isn't being kept prisoner or anything. Lightning did, however, have something of a forceful way with words sometimes. And when she told Natsuru simply that they were 'going home', Natsuru followed along.

She still doesn't quite realize Lightning intends this to become a permanent arrangement. When she's shown to a bed that's clearly set up for her use, she blushes and demurs slightly. Whether this bed is in Lightning's own room, or a room she's set up for Natsuru, is the question. This clearly depends on how Lightning feels about her own privacy with her new human.]

Ah, Light-nee... you didn't have to do all of this, just for me...

[If only she fully understood cat social cues, even catgirl social cues. She might have realized sooner that she's being adopted into Lightning's home. Right now, she doesn't dare to hope for a thing like that.]

[There's something to be said about Lightning's misplaced urges when it comes to being motherly. If this was even being motherly. This girl needed someone to take care of her, and Light had the means to. Natsuru at times reminded her of Serah, except Serah had much more of a backbone and was willing to say no to things.

It helps that Natsuru has not tried to treat Lightning like an actual cat.

So adopting of the blue haired girl was a thing. Which means showing off a room that actually had a decent sized bed that could easily accommodate two people.]

I know I didn't have to. I wanted to. There's a dresser you can use.

[Well one cue that Natsuru should pick up on is that whenever she talks, one of Light's ears automatically swivels to see where Natsuru is in relation to her.]

[She wouldn't dare treat her like an actual cat. Unless that cat is something demanding of respect, like a tiger. Whatever their relationship is and might become, Lightning's totally the alpha here. Natsuru's brief, modest assertion that Lightning didn't have to go through all of this effort for her sake is the closest she'll likely ever get to arguing with her. And since she's actually thrilled to spend more time with Lightning... she has no reason to even try to argue in the first place.

Lightning's response makes her blush, but her smile gives away how happy she is to hear that.]

Okay... well, thank you! It's... really amazing.

[She's still stunned at the size of the bed! And a dresser? Gradually, part of her is piecing together that this isn't just an extended visit. And she has noticed that Lightning is always aware of where she is around her, even though she hasn't been observant enough to pick up the angle of her ears yet.]

I've never slept in such a huge bed before...

[It's not even that huge. It's just not as modest as Natsuru is used to, at least for when she was on her own.]

[Lightning watches Natsuru curiously after those assessments.]

Do humans not share beds with others?

[Cats do when they get along well enough with another cat. It was never about being sexual, just closeness. Sometimes it was just nice to be curled up next to someone for the warmth and comfort.]

Would you feel better about having your own bed? I can go sleep in another room.
